“Over the past five years, Turning Point Academy (TPA) has become more
than a school site for service; it is my homeplace (hooks, 1990). The place
where I identify co-researchers, not subjects. The place where I go to
affirm (and be affirmed), rather than harm; and restore (and be restored),
rather than reform those whom I have the honor to serve. TPA has become
my second family. Even in the midst of a shelter-in-place order, we have
found time to text and call one another; to keep each other encouraged. So
you see, I am the true beneficiary of this sustained partnership.”
